Pascal Manise is a cop with no uncertainties. His problems were dealt with long ago, or at least his problems as a cop. Pascal’s problem is that the woman he loves is addicted to morphine. Agnès was already on drugs when he met her. Pascal couldn’t stop her. All he could do was keep her from going under, away from a seedy death on credit. Pascal has an agreement with a local dealer, Jaquillat, who supplies him with morphine. In exchange, Pascal lets him get away with the acceptable. Thanks to this, Agnès has been able to continue working and leading an almost normal life.
