Shot in the winter of 2004, this film is the last work of director Mathias Ledoux, who departed in March 2005. A musical stroll which leads us from Harlem to Braodway, from 52nd street to the Village, from a neighborhood to the next, from bar to bar, from a rehearsal room to a recording studio. On the way: the most prestigious clubs historically (Village Vanguard, Blue Note, Birdland, Lenox Lounge), or on account of their bill (Iridium), the new halls which attract the public’s curiosity and the new stars (Jazz Standard), the places that experiment or encourages conviviality (55 Bar, Fat Cat)… And among the personalities encountered along the way are famous artists : Patricia Barber, Les Paul, The Bad Plus, Houston Person, John Scofield, Magali Souriau, Mike Stern, François Moutin, Maria Schneider, Danilo Perez… An exceptional panorama that reflects all the intensity and diversity of the contemporary jazz scene in New York.
