A woman and her lover wonder if her husband has found out about their affair. They think back on his words and deeds and become afraid. Andrea Fabbri, the husband, returns from a short trip with his lawyer, Antonio Serra, the lover. The jaws of the vice tighten as the conversation between husband and wife runs its course.
