Searching for St Paul is an investigation of the paradoxical figure of St Paul, the Apostle of Nations, and of the part his letters play in the growth of Christianity. The difficult relations between Christians and Jews, the tension between Faith and the Law and the conflict between individual freedom and institutional order are the themes of this documentary’s two parts -The Convert and the Founder. The investigation of Didier Sandre takes us from Jerusalem to Antioch, then to Nicosia, Athens, Corinth, Ephesus, Paris, New York and Rome. The investigation follows in the steps of St.Paul ,but takes place in the modern world, amid all its political conflicts and religious revivals. What is the link between the time of Paul, in the first century, and our own ?
