Simone, a police officer with conservative views, infiltrates a feminist collective called “Les Hardies.” She is investigating the activists whom she suspects are involved in the murder of an abusive husband. As she interacts with them, Simone gradually opens up to feminist ideas. However, her cover is thin, and the “Hardies,” suspecting that there is a mole among them, begin to grow wary of her. To deflect attention and get out of this tight spot, Simone impulsively accuses a man, Paul, of sexually assaulting her. Paul, a failed actor living in the shadow of his wife, is the sweetest and most harmless of men. Devastated by her actions, Simone tries to make amends, but it’s too late: the accusation becomes public, and Paul is now a target of the collective.
