In this film, we follow James Carter to New York where a young, overwhelmed, Japanese pianist attempts to accompany him, then on to Europe where his quartet has made a name as one of the most coherent groups that jazz has seen for a long time.Perhaps it will help us understand why in the 1990s a young, exceptionally talented black American with more ambition than desire to show off, decided to become a jazzman rather than a rapper.
