Depending on the context, the word “DI” takes on several meanings. It can mean a goal, moving forward, going beyond oneself… In this choreographed play by Madagascan choreographer Ariry Andriamoratsiresy, “DI” evokes a journey or path. This play presents Madagascar as subtle, almost Oriental. The femininity of each dancer is affirmed and brings gentleness and fluidity to a stage constructed into a variety of moving spaces. The film shows us men who are a little like women and women who are a little like birds. They seem driven by the plays on music and light that surround them.
