Nine people look back over the course of their lives, a life begun before mechanization, in a timeless age. Marcelle, Robert, Yvon, Paulette and the others, farmers from Provence, have experienced beauty under the protection of Mont Ventoux. Hard work in the fields has not restricted their freedom. They are not old people who are languishing in a hospice. They are from their village of Bedoin which saw them born and which will see them disappear. They will die soon and yet there is still so much life in them. There is a great deal of serenity in these old people and a certain amount of mischief. I have filmed a rural world and colourful landscapes between sky, earth, music and the voice of the actress Violaine de Carné. L’adieu à Bedoin closes a trilogy started almost 10 years ago, and celebrates this rural world which no longer exists but lives on as the ties with nature and history (personal and general) extend into the present.
