This series of 16 documentary films lasting 13 minutes each are directed by Axel Clévenot et Patrick Cabouat.It relates the origins and histories of the different European flags together with that of the european Country itself. We discover the emergence of the national identities as well as the ancestral links which write the European countries throughout each nation’s major historical events, which actually governed the choice of colours and patterns of the flags.This picture is made up of animated items drawn from each country’s stock of illustrations which the directors reworked on using computer graphics.With a very discrete comment and original music in the background, each of these films constitute an artistic creation in its own right. The artistic direction of the film was taken cared of by Victoria Poynder.
