Today we know that 1942 was a pivotal year in WW2, during which Allies managed to overcome their enemies. 1942 sounded to them as the year of « all it’s possible »…

But this documentary multi-parter will recount wartime from a new perspective, the one of the citizens far away from the frontline and the ministries, where deprivation, hunger, loneliness and uncertainty become an ordinary thing to adapt to.

These personal stories with apparently no link to the Big History, will be recounted through public and user-generated archives, as well as by using animation at times.

As in the series The Crown, where big national and international events are narrated through the life and perspective of the Queen , here the prism is the everyday man. The viewer will be witnessing the « relocation centres » for Japanese families in the United States, or the unusual slaughtering of pigs which was done secretly at night in Switzerland in order to divert the strict food restrictions …

All in all, this series intends to question what life means to someone when they are ignoring what is happening around them?
