Ramingining is an aboriginal community of 600 people located at the heart of Arnhem Land (an autonomous aboriginal territory) in the great eucalyptus forest. Most of the inhabitants, or at least the oldest amongst them, continue to practice the sacred painting of their ancestors, using natural pigments on eucalyptus bark. Through seven portraits of the major painters of this region, we will discover a culture founded on an all-encompassing spirituality which springs from the“dreamtime”, the beginning of the world : a primordial space-time which contains the entire past and future.
